Minwabi Indigenous Buying Cooperative
The “Minwabi Indigenous Buying Cooperative” is now available to you. It empowers all Indigenous organizations - NAN, any Tribal Council, First Nation or affiliate service organizatio - in Northwestern Ontario by combining their purchasing power for shared savings on interior products, like glass wall systems, modular furniture, and flooring. This program offers pre-negotiated volume discounts to any indigenous organization that signs our Supply Agreement. Our goals are to make planning your office spaces easy, make high-quality furniture more accessible and make the procurement process more streamlined – saving you time and money. If your organization is looking for a long-term furniture supply partner, we are here to help!
The savings your organization will realize by working with Minwabi, can then be reinvested into other vital initiatives that your organization, First Nation or Tribal Council may be planning. We want to do our part to foster community development and improve the quality of life on and off reserve.

The Government of Canada is increasing economic opportunities for First Nations, Inuit and Métis businesses through the new federal procurement mandates.
All federal departments and agencies are to meet or exceed the 5% target of procuring products and services from Indigenous owned businesses, no later than the fiscal year-end of 2024 to 2025. Many provincial and municipal departments are following suit and so are many Canadian corporations. Support for buying from Indigenous owned businesses is growing and Minwabi Interiors is part of this change.
For the purposes of the 5% target, an Indigenous business is defined as businesses registered in the Government of Canada's Indigenous Business Directory (Minwabi Interiors is 51% Metis owned and currently waiting for IBD application approval).
ISC Capital Projects
There are various streams for funding Indigenous capital projects related to child and family services in Canada. And, Minwabi Interiors can assist our Indigenous clients by becoming part of the planning team for their capital project right at the start of the process, whether they are in Jordan’s Principle or the First Nations Child & Family Service funding stream (see below).
Demountable wall systems and modular furniture offer future flexibility and add to the overall life cycle benefits of every project where they are implemented. These products should be considered and budgeted for early in the planning process.
Pre-capital needs assessment, feasibility and planning – (make Minwabi Interiors part of your planning team from the first phase)functions of your new space.
Initial furniture, including office furniture and specialized furniture for clinical, health care, behavioural health, cultural and multi-functional spaces etc. is included in the scope of eligible assets covered under these capital funding sources. With this being the case, Minwabi Interiors can work with your architect’s “project team” as your dedicated furniture consultant to ensure that the right furniture is selected to enhance the functions of your new space.
